Experience

My tutoring experience is extensive and diverse. As an undergraduate student at Arizona State University I volunteered, as part of a scholarship requirement, as a tutor in the English department assisting other students with term papers. I also volunteered extensively and created initiatives including teaching health and sex education to fraternities and sororities. This interest led me to my most rewarding and notable experience teaching, which was starting my own non-profit organization. Students for International Change (SIC) began as a joint effort among several students and professors and has grown into a multi-national NGO providing education, microfinance and medical services. I co-founded SIC at Arizona State University in 2003, and in the summer of 2004 brought our first group of student volunteers to Tanzania to teach health and HIV education at rural schools. The organization has since grown consistently and expanded across Africa, India and Malaysia. As a law student, I volunteered teaching and tutoring high school students in Miami. I then became a tutor for a major national LSAT prep company and did that for two years. After that, I began tutoring SAT/ACT for the largest SAT/ACT prep course in the nation. I have documented, repeated scores on both the SAT and ACT above the 95th percentile, including perfect 12’s on the SAT writing portion. I also have documented, repeated scores on the LSAT above the 90th percentile. In addition to tutoring, I also have experience to share regarding scholarship acquisition. I obtained enough scholarships to pay for the entire expense of my undergraduate program, including tuition, room and board, a vehicle, and entertainment. In addition to academic tutoring I would be happy to provide consultation and assistance with obtaining scholarships.
